"Big Sky," a feel-good, fun and entertaining Australian drama. Everyday is an adventure for the high-spirited bunch of pilots at Big Sky. They can't help but relish the kind of job that sees them one day flying to a medical emergency on a remote property deep in the outback . The next on a tricky city mission and another soaring over some of the most beautiful tropical coastline in the world.
It's not just the freedom, nor is it the lure of dicing danger to beat all odds. It's the excitement of a job as risky as it is unpredictable and the thrill of being part of a tight-knit team. The work at Big Sky Aviation promises riches of a completely different kind: the experience that only pure seat-of-the-pants adventure can bring.
They love freedom, they know the danger and most of all, they love reliving both at the end of a long, hard day. At the heart of the little operation is chief pilot Chris Manning (Gary Sweet), determined to look after his team, even if that means conflict with the new boss, Lauren Allen (Alexandra Fowler). Lauren inherited Big Sky Aviation following the death of her father.
He admires her determination to haul her legacy out of the red, even if he might see her as a poor little rich girl and himself as a happy-go-lucky guy from decidedly wrong side of the tracks. Both know that the survival of the business depends on their being able to get down to the job at hand. She wants to keep Big Sky in the air and he wants to stay there.
Also in the team are naïve and arrogant, 22-year-old Scotty Gibbs (Martin Henderson), who frequently ends up in trouble and is regularly joined there by Jimbo James (Rhys Muldoon). An excellent pilot but exceedingly laid-back, absent-minded individual.
Lexie Ciani (Lisa Baumwol) is thrilled to be a pilot. Shay McWilliam (Robyn Cruze), capable, super-efficient and not afraid to speak her mind.
Catch Big Sky on Fridays on SABC 3 at 5:00pm.
