Idols contestant Dominic Neill's run of near-misses finally came to an end last night when he became the fourth contestant to be voted off during this week's Results Show.

For the past three weeks, Dominic found himself in the bottom three – and just last week he scraped through to the top seven by a mere 36 votes!

Last night's show was opened by the Graeme Watkins Project who were accompanied by the ethereal voices of the Drakensburg Boys Choir, who had also accompanied the Top Seven Spectacular on Sunday night.

This week's mentor, South African superstar Lira, correctly predicted that Dominic would leave the show tonight because he "lost his sense of control and magic" during his performance of Coldplay's Paradise on Sunday evening.

After host ProVerb called Melissa, Simphiwe and Monde to the stage, he asked Idols judge Randall Abrahams to predict which one of them was not in the bottom three. Randall put his money on Simphiwe, but for once, he was incorrect! In a shock surprise, Melissa and Simphiwe joined Dominic in the bottom three, leaving Monde safely in the Top Six.

The Top Six Idols have a busy weekend ahead of them. On Saturday (1 September) they will be signing autographs at the Mzansi Magic Market Day at the Cresta Shopping Centre, followed by an appearance at 94.7's Jo'burg Day. And on Sunday evening after the show, the Top Six will be at Sandton Square in Johannesburg to meet fans.
