M-Net, still reeling from the fallout over a bungled 'Idols' finale, has not yet completed its investigation into the SMS voting issue that caused the reality show title to be awarded to the wrong contestant.

But with cellphone providers claiming the problem did not lie with them, the pay channel has issued a statement declaring its intentions to get to the bottom of the situation.

"M-Net has been as open and transparent as possible about issues affecting voting in this year?s Idols competition," the broadcaster said in a statement issued on Thursday.

"M-Net immediately commissioned a technical investigation into the delays and has been in constant contact with all service providers including the mobile network operators. M-Net does not yet know exactly what went wrong. As soon as the report is complete it will be shared with all service providers.

"M-Net's focus is not on blaming any service provider but on understanding fully the causes of system latency in parts of the delivery chain so that the broadcaster can learn lessons that need to be applied in future Idols competitions."

M-Net is holding a media conference on Friday 15 May at 2pm to discuss their investigation into 'Idols' voting.
