Joint 'Idols' winner Sasha-Lee Davids says she is not looking for approval or support from Jason Hartman's fans.

The two shared the Idols crown after Davids was initially declared the winner, only to learn that all votes had not been counted. It later emerged Hartman received 200 000 more votes.

Both sets of fans have since been vocal in their criticism of the other reality television show finalist.

Davids told Eyewitness News she is not looking to win over any of Jason's fans.

She says they need to come to terms with the fact that the 'Idols' microphone is being shared.

"They have to accept that M-Net made this decision and they don't have to support me, that's all I'm saying. Support Jason like they always did, I don't have a problem with it."

'Idols' fans flooded newspapers and the show's website with comments and criticism of the finalists and at times the fall out was heated.

Acting Cape Town Mayor Grant Haskin, who welcomed Davids back to the mother city on Monday, says both she and Jason must send out the right message to fans.
