TVSA can reveal that SABC3 has purchased the broadcast rights to 'Lipstick Jungle', a comedy-drama series based on the best-selling novel of the same name by 'Sex and the City' scribe Candace Bushnell.
The series will premiere on SABC3 on Monday 29 September 2008, at 9pm. It will replace the second season of 'Desperate Housewives', which is currently airing.
Premiering in the USA in February this year, 'Lipstick Jungle' stars Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price as three hot-shot New York City friends, all of whom have made the influential "New York's 50 Most Powerful Women" list.
Movie exec Wendy (Shields) does everything she can to balance career and family. Nico (Raver, '24'), editor-in-chief of a hot fashion magazine, has her eye on becoming CEO. And free-spirited designer Victory (Price, 'Beverly Hills, 90210') longs to make her dreams come true, and maybe find "Mr. Right" along the way.
NBC originally ordered 13 episodes of the show, but only seven were made before the 2007/8 WGA writers strike intervened. The show was renewed for a full second season of 13 episodes, which premieres in the USA in September.
We'll have more details for you closer to the time.
