Double Golden Globe winner Kate Winslet has defended her gushing acceptance speech at last week?s award gala.
The 35-year-old screen beauty, who last night attended the London premiere of new film 'Revolutionary Road' alongside co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, explained that her absolute shock at winning two trophies lead to the emotional thank-you.
Winslet said in The Daily Express: "I was genuinely stunned. I have not won big awards in the past. I spoke from the heart.
"The Hollywood Foreign Press had given me one award for 'The Reader' and you don?t get two."
Winslet added to The Daily Mail: "I've been in the US since then and everyone was very complimentary about the speech. I only realised it had caused such a reaction when I got back to the UK."
'Revolutionary Road' opens in South Africa on 23 January.
