Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are still together, despite reports that they have hit a rough patch.

A source told gossip website TMZ that 18-year-old Bieber and 19-year-old Gomez are not a "solid" couple and have broken up and reconciled a number of times.

The gossip site claims that the teenage superstars called off their relationship again last week – but a source told E! Online that a breakup is "the furthest thing from the truth you could imagine".

"If anything, they are tighter now more than ever," the insider reiterated.

Another source told Just Jared that the teens do argue from time to time – and that last week Bieber and Gomez "had a pretty big fight, but made it through".

"They're still together," the source confirmed.

Bieber and Disney star Gomez have been dating for around a year and a half, and have faced rumours of a break-up before.

In August last year, the couple laid to rest talk that they had split after appearing together at the Teen Choice Awards. And just last week, they appeared at the premiere of Katy Perry's new movie Katy Perry: Part of Me, wearing coordinating outfits.

While Bieber has been on the road recently promoting his new album Believe, E! Online claims that work has "never gotten in the way of their relationship".

According to People, representatives for the stars have not responded to requests for comment on the teens' relationship status.
