Michael Jackson fans paid tribute to the singer by adorning his grave with thousands of flowers to mark the third anniversary of his death.

His fans raised $30 000 through social media sites to send 10 000 roses – one of the singer's favourite flowers – to the King of Pop's grave at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale California yesterday (25 June).

According to the site, the flowers were to be sent to local homes for the elderly and other similar institutions, once they had served their purpose on the day.

His 14-year-old daughter took to Twitter yesterday to pay homage to her famous father.

She tweeted: "RIP Michael Jackson … Dad you will forever be in my heart <3 i love you (sic)". She had previously tweeted: "It never gets easier."

His brother Randy Jackson, also took to Twitter: "RIP Michael Jackson King Of Pop!!!"

Jackson died at the age of 50 of acute Propofol intoxication on 25 June 2009.

Dr Conrad Murray, the star's personal physician at the time of his death, received a four-year jail sentence for involuntary manslaughter for administering the drug to the Thriller superstar.

Murray recently voiced his unhappiness with his living conditions in jail, claiming that he only got fresh air once a month and clean underwear once a week and requested that he be moved, according to Murray's lawyer.
