Vanessa Paradis was spotted house-hunting shortly before her split from Johnny Depp was announced.

Sources claim that the French singer has been making arrangements to move on from the Pirates of the Caribbean star for some time, and has viewed houses in the Beverly Hills area valued between $7-million and $11-million.

She was reportedly particularly taken with a seven-bedroom home, listed for just under $8-million, which she visited on 23 May – almost a month before their split was made official.

She also viewed a second six-bedroom property – with separate guest house – which is viewed at just under $11-million.

Depp and Paradis – who raise children Lily-Rose (13) and Jack (9) together – have been the subject of break-up rumours for months, and while pals say they had been trying to make it work, their move from France to California was behind their breakup.

A source told The Sun: "It's so sad. Johnny and Vanessa gambled that they could move to California and be on long stays on film locations for his career.

"They bet that things would continue there as they had in the south of France. They lost that bet."

The couple started dating in 1998 after they met in Paris while he was filming The Ninth Gate, and never married.
