David Arquette has filed for divorce from Courteney Cox, almost two years after they first separated.
On Friday (8 June), the Scream star filed papers citing irreconcilable differences and seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 8-year-old daughter, Coco.
According to the papers, Arquette is not asking for spousal or child support and is representing himself in the divorce.
According to TMZ.com, Arquette had signed the papers in March – meaning he has held on to them for almost three months, delivering them the day before what would have been their 13th wedding anniversary.
Arquette and Cox tied the knot in 1999 after meeting on the set of the first Scream film in 1995, before calling it quits in October 2010.
The couple remain friends, with Cox saying during a recent interview with Howard Stern: “We are always going to be a family - whether we're together or not."
At the time of their split, they released a joint statement reading: "We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect, dignity, understanding and love at this time as well."
Since their break-up, Arquette enjoyed a short romance with television presenter Christina McLarty, while Cox has remained single.
