Sonia Copeland Bloom is reported by hellomagazine.com as saying: "I think he?s a bit of a phenomenon. There is something very special about him and he?s almost oblivious to it." Bloom was reportedly speaking from her home in Kent.

The actor battled with dyslexia for a while, but, said his mom: "He reads scripts all the time, it hardly affects him now ? Orlando got eight O-levels and three A-levels. He is a wonderful sculptor ? very artistic and very bright."

The star, who played the elf Legolas in the 'Lord of the Rings', grew up believing his father was well-known civil rights campaigner, Harry Bloom, but on turning 12 was informed that Colin Stone, his mom?s boyfriend, is in fact his real dad.

Bloom was born on January 13, 1977 in Canterbury, England. He moved to London in 1993 to boost his career. According to a fan site, he enjoys photography, shopping, buying antiques and, "just taking time to walk whether it be on location somewhere or on a beach. Most of the time I just chill with my friends and have a mellow time".
