A well-known Cape Town DJ died in the early hours of Saturday morning when his car overturned, police said.
The body of Heart 104.9 fm DJ Az Abrahams was found lying outside his silver BMW at 5am when police attended to an accident scene on the Giel Basson turn-off on the N1, Inspector November Filander said.
"The time of the accident as well as how it happened is unclear at this stage, because it was the only vehicle found at the scene," Filander said.
Abrahams, 31, presented the Heart Party Beatz programme on Friday and Saturday nights in the 10pm to 2am slots.
Police suspect the accident occurred on his way home from work.
The radio station's website describes him as a family man devoted to his friends despite his public profile.
"Every time I go on air, my challenge is to make a difference in one person's life by striking a chord that helps them to feel proud of who they are," the website quotes him to have said.
Abrahams will be buried on Saturday afternoon at an unknown location.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
