The comic book character Tintin will be next in line to receive a Hollywood makeover at the hands of Steven Spielberg, the BBC reported on Tuesday.

Spielberg will produce the movie along with Kathleen Kennedy as a joint project for Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures.

The film will be a real-life action adventure, according to the BBC. Planning is reportedly in the early stages as the studios are still in negotiation with Moulinsart, the Belgian company that owns the rights to Tintin.

The famous young reporter, with his tuft of blonde hair and faithful dog Snowy first appeared in a strip in a Belgian newspaper Le Petite Vingteme. They were created by the late George Remi under the pseudonym Herge.

The comic book hero went on to fight crime in a number of animated films made for television as well as for cinema.
