Madonna calls her newly adopted daughter in Malawi every night just to check up on her.
Madonna was allowed to adopt Chifundo "Mercy" James last week. She has since moved the little girl to a luxurious hotel with her own nanny and nurse.
The pop star can't wait for the arrival of the new member of the family.
During a telephone conversation with Mercy she said: "Mommy is waiting for you across the sea."
Madonna's team is reportedly working on legal issues and setting up travel papers for Mercy — whose mother died while giving birth. The child is expected to jet off in a private jet from Malawi to join her new family in New York.
She will join Madonna's children Lourdes (12) and Rocco (8) as well as David Banda (3) who was also adopted from Malawi.
Madonna's adoption application was initially rejected earlier this year, stating that she hadn't lived in the country for the 18 months required in adoption cases.
The pop diva will be embarking on a European tour on 4 July which will last until the end of August. In the meantime Mercy will be cared for by a team of nannies in the Big Apple.
