Sarah Michelle Gellar and her husband Freddie Prinze Jr have welcomed their first child into the world.

The acting duo have named their daughter Charlotte Grace, reports eonline.com.

"The family is over the moon," Gellar's rep told People.com.

Gellar's pregnancy started to show in April not long after her best friend Alyson Hannigan gave birth to her daughter with hubby Alexis Denisof.

The couple first met while filming 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' in 1997 and were married in 2002.

According to media reports Prinze is set to star in the upcoming season of '24' and Gellar (who changed her last name to Prinze in 2007 to honour the couple's fifth wedding anniversary) will star in a TV series called 'The Wonderful Maladys' which premieres in 2010.
