Brad Pitt was under the influence of alcohol when he agreed to a role in his new movie.

He accepted the role in 'Inglourious Basterds' after a rough night out with Quentin Tarantino.

"We went out together... I got up the next morning and saw, like, five empty bottles on the floor and some sort of smoking device on the floor," Pitt revealed.

"Then, somehow, six weeks later I was doing the film."

Pitt was initially unsure about signing but was convinced after hearing more about it.

"This was something new for me," he revealed at the Cannes Film Festival, where the movie premiered this week.

"I wish all films could be made this way. It's definitely outrageous, which I was game for!"
