Ever since Brad Pitt started picking up his children at a school in the small town of Bayville in New York, local mothers have put a little effort into their look.

A local told People magazine: "The moms are trying to look a little bit more polished. Instead of schlepping in sweat pants and messy hair, now they wear designer jeans and high heels, which they never wear. Usually it's Tod's or Gucci loafers.

"Everyone is putting a little more effort. Let's face it – he's a handsome guy."

The star, who has moved into the town with his family while partner Angelina Jolie works on the film 'Salt', has even taken to reading books to daughter Shiloh's class.

Jolie, Pitt and the children are often seen at local shops such as Dunkin' Donuts.

"They are trying to teach their kids what's normal... And they are always in the pizza parlour and Borders Books," another source said.

But Pitt recently enjoyed lunch with George Clooney, causing a commotion in the community.
