Although Mickey Rourke lost out on his Oscar award there is no doubting that his career is firmly back on track.

Spotted at LA's Four Seasons Hotel with Sylvester Stallone, he has been offered a role in Sly's next Rambo film, which would see him play a bad guy, with filming beginning later this year.

A source revealed to The Sun: "It was weird seeing two movie tough guys sipping tea on the veranda. They chatted about the Oscars then Sly begged Mickey to sign for 'Rambo V', Mickey said he was up for it."

Rourke is also set to start work on Sly's new thriller 'The Expendables'. The Oscar nominee is set to join the formidable - and slightly unusual - cast consisting of Ben Kingsley, Sandra Bullock, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Forest Whitaker.

The film, expected to be completed in 2010, focuses on a team of mercenaries heading to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator.
