Jennifer Aniston saw ex-husband Brad Pitt with his new love Angelina Jolie for the first time yesterday.

Aniston attended the Oscars with boyfriend John Mayer, and was seated around 12 seats away from Brad and Angelina.

The former 'Friends' actress presented the award for Best Animated Feature with Jack Black and as she made a joke about Jeffrey Katzenberg, the co-founder of animation company Dreamworks, Jolie laughed.

As Aniston announced the nominees she moved to the centre of the stage – right in front of Pitt and Jolie. When the lights went down, she smiled directly at Pitt.

Jack Black said afterwards: "Jennifer did fine. She's a pro."

Aniston and Mayer then clapped while Nicole Kidman introduced Jolie as a nominee for Best Actress, and while Pitt (45) was announced in the Best Actor category nominations.

The night before the Oscars, Aniston held a pre-show party at her $15-million Beverley Hills estate. Around 100 guests attended, including actors Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Tobey Maguire.

Earlier in the evening, Aniston briefly attended the Night Before charity event at the Beverley Hills hotel, but sources say she quickly left when she thought Jolie — who met Pitt on the set of the film 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' while he was still married to Aniston — was also headed to the party.
