Veteran actor and Oscar winner Al Pacino is set to play painter Salvador Dali.

The ‘Righteous Kill’ star, who is known mainly for his roles as gun-slinging gangsters, will take on quite a different light by playing the surrealist painter. The film is based on Lauryssens’ book ‘Dali & I’ and the film promises to reveal and explore the shady behind-the-scenes dealings of the art world.

Many who felt that his eccentricity distracted the public from his work criticized Dali, who was famous for his eccentric dress code.

The film will include details of his most famous work, ‘The Persistence Of A Memory’, completed in 1931, and touch on his expansive artistic repertoire in film, sculpture, and photography.

Pacino will star alongside Irish actor Cillian Murphy, who will play the role of Belgian art dealer, Stan Lauryssens, specialising in selling Dali’s art.
