Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz welcomed their first child together into the world yesterday evening (20 November 2008).

The 24-year-old singer — who married Wentz (29) in May — gave birth to 7lb 11oz son Bronx Mowgli late last night at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre, a representative for the couple has confirmed.

The spokesperson said: "Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes."

The baby was 20-and-a-half-inches long at birth.

Fall Out Boy rocker Wentz recently revealed he had been getting parenting advice from Joel Madden, who has a nine-month-old daughter Harlow with his partner Nicole Richie.

He said: "Joel gives me advice. It has been really awesome for me to go to another person my age."

Earlier this week, Ashlee's older sister Jessica said the 'Little Miss Obsessive' singer was trying everything to induce labour.

Jessica explained: "Ashlee has been trying different foot massages and stuff. I don't know. I think she's really just jumping around trying everything right now."
