Enrique Iglesias wants to "die drunk".

The 'Hero' singer consumed a considerable amount of alcohol when the plane he was travelling on was forced to make an emergency landing due to an engine malfunction last month.

Iglesias said: "I had a few shots of vodka and I was fine. Die drunk, right?

"I'm a bit of a panic flyer. I fly myself, but I definitely panicked for a few minutes."

The star - who has been dating former tennis player Anna Kournikova for more than six years - said he trained to become a pilot to get over his phobia of flying.

Iglesias said: "I do it to get over the fear. It's the feeling of not knowing what's going on. I can't even ride on the back of a motorcycle.

"I've got to be driving. I don't feel like I have to be in control of everything, just anything that's moving very fast."

Iglesias’ new single 'Away' will be released on 1 December.
