Ex-lovers and former Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are reportedly continuing with divorce procedures and have received court approval to extend their divorce negotiations in private.
Although the 42-year-old actress filed for divorce in 2016, issues surrounding the distribution of their assets and the custody of their children is still in the process of being decided.
Despite temporary agreements from last year, which afforded Jolie custody of the children and 54-year-old Pitt visitation rights, Pitt still insists he wants joint custody.
The former couple have six children, namely nine-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, Shiloh (11), Zahara (13), Pax (14), and Maddox (16).
According to sources close to the case, discussions surrounding the divorce have been peaceful and “very amicable” and negotiations, which will now continue away from the public eye, have been going smoothly.
This is despite speculations circulating last summer about a possible reconciliation between the pair. These were later confirmed as mere rumours by an insider who insisted it "couldn't be further from the truth".
Divorce procedures had reportedly been put on hold while Jolie and Pitt sorted their finances and assets.
This, sources say, is quite difficult considering the many properties the former couple own together, which were not covered by the pre-nup.
There are reportedly disagreements about the fate of various properties.
"For instance, Brad wants to keep their estate in France and keep up their wine brand, while Ange wants to sell the property and use it all for charity,” says the source.
