Captain America actor Chris Evans has called Donald Trump a "reckless moron" after the US president made a joke which suggested that police rough up those whom they arrest.
According to Us Weekly, the American President addressed a crowd of police officers and was quoted as saying: "When you see these thugs getting thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just see them getting thrown in, rough … I said, 'Please don’t be too nice'."
He continued: "When you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over? Like, don’t hit their head, and they just killed somebody — don’t hit their head. I said, 'You can take the hand away, okay?'"
Us Weekly adds that Trump's spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended the former's comments as nothing more than a "joke".
"It wasn't a directive, it was a joke," Huckabee Sanders was quoted as saying.
Evans then chimed in, taking to Twitter to blast the President's joke. "You reckless moron," Evans tweeted. "Do you have any idea what you're encouraging? You think a 'joke' makes it ok?? ZERO societal awareness and understanding."
