Samantha Ronson has stepped up to defend Ali Lohan, younger sister of her girlfriend Lindsay.

The DJ, who has been linked with the 'Mean Girls' star since being seen getting cosy at a Cannes party on P Diddy's yacht, hit out at reports that she hated Ali's first single, 'All The Way Around'.

The 30-year-old sister of producer Mark Ronson took to her MySpace blog to hit out at a report in the Page Six gossip column that she'd refused to play Ali's songs during last week's gig at the Angel Orensanz Foundation's Sephora party.

In an entry titled 'I mean… really?' Ronson wrote: "Where do they come up with this s****????"

"I really like the song," she added, before hitting out at the New York Daily News's gossip columnist Richard Johnson.

"The most pathetic thing of all," she explained, "is that Richard Johnson is an old friend of my mother's and therefore could have easily fact checked this one."

According to Johnson's report, Ali's mother Dina had asked Ronson to play the song at the party but Ronson had tossed the CD aside and claimed she hated it.

In her blog Ronson claimed that while she didn’t usually respond to celebrity gossip, she felt Ali needed support.

"I'm afraid that people might actually believe that [this is true] and that's not fair to Ali. High school is bad enough. Do tabloids really need to torture teenagers as well?

"It's a great f***ing pop song!"

The 14-year-old Ali, who released her song on 14 July, also stars on 'Living Lohan', a reality show which shows Dina trying to forward her younger daughter's career.

Ali revealed that a duet with her big sister could be in the offing.

"We've been thinking about that," she revealed on MySpace.

"That would be awesome. We've been talking about it a lot. Definitely down the road."

She also explained that her mother and sister Lindsay are her role models.

"My mom is such a strong woman," she explained.

"It's also cool to have her as my manager because I can trust her. And Lindsay, I've been with her on movie sets and everything and I've seen her grow. She's such a big inspiration to me."
