Elana Afrika has come under fire over a tweet involving domestic workers.
According to TshisaLIVE, Afrika took to Twitter to reveal how therapeutic cleaning a house is, which resulted in backlash from many social media users.
"Cleaning the house is therapeutic. I understand why someone could do this for a living," Afrika tweeted.
Many users were left offended by the tweet with some calling it an insult to domestic workers.
One user wrote: "What you've just said not only is it insensitive, but also shows some level of ignorance towards those who are cleaners for a living."
Another user referred Afrika's tweet as "the most disappointing thing I've read in a while". "This is the most disappointing thing I've read in a while.. is 2500 a month, to feed your family therapeutic," the user wrote.
"Hi @ElanaAfrika look at Sectoral Determination 7: Domestic Workers wage amendment 12/2016 & tell me if there’s anything therapeutic about it."
Some users took it too far, criticising Afrika for her interracial marriage to Ian Bredenkamp.
@ElanaAfrika Must be nice marrying white and getting some of that privilege rubbed on you— Dineostyled (@Dineostyled) April 21, 2017
