Madonna has insisted that her marriage to Guy Richie is not in trouble.

The 49-year-old singer, who is currently in New York with her three children preparing for the launch of her US tour, released a statement through her spokesperson Liz Rosenberg in order to quash rumours of a divorce.

Rosenberg said: "Guy arrived in New York to be with his wife and family — not as a last ditch attempt to save his marriage which does not need saving."

Richie, who was not wearing his wedding ring, flew into the Big Apple earlier this week amid rumours that his wife is having an affair with basketball star Alex Rodriguez.

The 34-year-old athlete has been spotted coming and going from Madge's apartment on numerous occasions recently, although the '4 Minutes' songstress insists that they are just friends.

Her spokesperson added: "She and Alex share the same manager. They know each other."

Meanwhile, Rodriguez's wife Cynthia has since fled the US and Alex has been seen with a noticeably bare wedding ring finger.
