Angelina Jolie has reportedly checked into the maternity ward of a French hospital.

Jolie, who is expecting twins with partner Brad Pitt, is said to have arrived at Nice?s Lenval Hospital as part of a "planned rest period".

Spokesperson for the facility, Nadine Bauer, confirmed to In Touch Weekly: "The visit has been planned for a long time, there are no complications. She is just resting."

The 33-year-old actress, who will remain at the clinic until she gives birth, is said to be "doing great, very healthy and happy", according to her spokesman in Los Angeles.

The 'Wanted' star has openly expressed her wish to have the babies in France as a tribute to her mother, a French-Canadian descendant, who passed away from ovarian cancer early last year.

Jolie and Pitt have a biological daughter together, two-year-old Shiloh, as well as adopted children Maddox (six), Pax (four), and Zahara (three).
