Ben Schoemann will perform at the NG Church in Franschhoek on Saturday 31 October 2009 at 7pm as part of the Franschhoek La Motte Classic Music Festival.

Schoemann currently studies with Michel D'Alberto, Boris Petrushansky and Louis Lortie at the Accademia Pianistics 'Incontri col Maestro' in Imola, Italy.

He has won all the major competitions in South Africa including the 2008 UNISA International Piano Competition — making him the first South African ever to win this prestigious international competition. Recently, he won a gold medal and first prize at the 57th Royal Overseas League Annual Music Competition at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.

Schoemann has been described by critics as the greatest South African pianist of his generation. His programme will include Beethoven's Sonata no. 28 in A major, Op. 101, Franck ? Prelude, Choral et Fugue, Mendelssohn Prelude and Fugue in E minor, Op 35/1 and Liszt's monumental Sonata in B minor. This will undoubtedly be a stellar performance by this outstanding young talent.

This concert will be 90 minutes which includes a short interval, it starts at 7pm and tickets cost R80 per person. Tickets are on sale from 1st July 2009.
