Unparelled talent has earned Lira four wins at this year's 15th Annual MTN Samas. Lira has earned, and deservedly so, recognition from her peers, the public and from the music industry. She cleaned up at this year's ceremony taking home the awards for Best Female Solo Artist, Best Adult Contemporary (English), Remix of the Year and Album of the Year for Soul In Mind.
Lira will treat audiences to a night of soulful afro pop at Carnival City's Big Top Arena on Friday 21st August.
Lira will be performing with her breathtakingly talented 10 piece band at an exclusive gala dinner event in support of KWASA, a charity based in Ekhuruleni
Audiences will receive nothing less than the star treatment, their floors will be carpeted in red, their tables will be showered in bubbly, they will be wined and excessively dined and they will certainly be entertained. And the best part is that all this glamour is going towards a charitable cause.
With her busy studio schedule, international tours and corporate performances, Lira has not performed publicly for a long time and now fans have a chance to see her live on stage in a rare and exclusive performance.
Lira may be a born and bred South African, but she is certainly an international star in her own right!
At the age of 29 and with two albums under her belt, an international album release and four Sama nominations for this year's awards, Lira is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with.
Her first album, 'Feel Good', was released in Italy and Thailand and 2008 has seen Lira's sound go international with live gigs in Italy, Fiji and more. At home, she remains one of the country's premier live performers, having appeared at the Joy of Jazz, the recent Macufe Festival, Oppikoppi, sharing the stage with Eagle Eye Cherry on his South African tour and performing at the 2007 Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
'Feel Good' was one of the top earning digital caller tunes for mobile users and was SABC2's summer theme tune in 2007.
Lira is delighted to be performing on the East Rand as this is the community in which her talent began to brew growing up in Springs.
