Josie Field and Holly & The Woods go live this Saturday in Edenvale.

Taking her inspirations all the way from hard rock to the new wave of solo acoustic artists, Field is first and foremost a songwriter. She has a unique, low register voice and a fierce stage presence that belies her normally calm and understated exterior. One glimpse of her live on stage with her full band should convince that there's way more going on here than a folk artist strumming an acoustic guitar.

Field's 2006 debut album, 'Mercury', has sold in excess of 7000 units across South Africa and sparked the singles 'Every Now And Then' and '10 Years'.

Her second album, 'Leyland', was released last year. Without dropping the lyrical hooks and catchy songwriting of the debut, it packs more of a punch and shows new sides of Field and has already sold over 4000 units in SA, as well as the singles 'Hey Man' and 'Law Of Attraction'.

A dynamic and aggressive live performer, Field was on the road for two years touring 'Mercury', and has been touring 'Leyland' since its release. She supported James Blunt on his first tour to South Africa in May 2008 as well as showcased her new album live at the South African Music Awards earlier this year.

Holly and the Woods, meanwhile, has spent the last years notching up an impressive slate of live performances, bringing their sprawling and no-holds-barred rock to stages alongside the likes of Eagle-Eye Cherry, Sarah Bettens (from K’s Choice), Prime Circle, Wonderboom, Hellphones, Karma, Love Jones, Cassette, Australia's Veeva Feeva, My Epic, Walt, Running With Scissors, Lonehill Estate, Voodoo Child and The Sick-Leaves. They also snagged a highly coveted support slot with Seether's Shaun Morgan late in 2007.

Ferocious songs with killer hooks and lyrics that swiftly snag you in all the right places, is what they're about.
