Cape Town indie band, The Dirty Skirts, have just confirmed a record deal signing with major label, SonyBMG, on the strength of their second full-length album 'Daddy Don't Disco'.
Due for release on 23 June and produced by Springbok Nude Girls' Theo Crous, it's been preceded on radio by 'Can't Remember Your Name'.
But despite their indie roots, the band are excited to be taking the major label route.
"So far The Dirty Skirts have been a fiercely independent band, but with SonyBMG we found the right partnership at the right time," said lead singer Jeremy de Tolly.
"They have accommodated our entrepreneurial, independent spirits in the structure of the deal."
As part of the new major label backing, the new album — being billed as the band's strongest work to date — will also be available for download from the 19 June, pre-empting the physical release.
And 'Daddy Don't Disco' is being backed by a national launch tour.
