Musicians Danny K and Kabelo Mabalane have teamed up with a host of celebrities to record a remake of the 1980's hit song 'Shout' by Tears for Fears.

The recording was made in aid of a campaign sparked by the death of local reggae legend Lucky Dube who was killed in a botched hijacking in Rosettenville in 2007.

Danny K, whose real name is Daniel Koppel, said he was deeply affected by the murder and vowed to do something about it.

"I had enough. I am a musician. I need to use what Lucky used and what I use to make a difference ? and that is music. It was then that fate played its part when I discovered that my good friend Kabelo was recording a version of 'Shout'," said Danny K.

The recording features a host of South African celebrities and musical superstars ? including The Parlotones, Karen Zoid, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Freshly Ground, HHP, Lira, Prime Circle, Hugh Masakela, Watershed, Loyiso, Steve Hofmeyer, Louise Carver, Tasha Baxter, Kurt Darren and the world-famous Soweto Gospel Choir to name but a few.

The song will be available for download from your cellphone for R20 and proceeds will go initiatives that support victims of crime and projects for crime prevention. The Shout campaign works in association with Primedia's Crime Line.

Speaking from the opening which was attended by The Soweto Gospel Choir and a host of other artists and VIPs, Lucky Dube's son, Thokozani, said: "I am happy to see that my dad inspired someone to speak up against crime in South Africa."
