Kwaito star Mandoza is recovering at home following a car accident in the early hours of Saturday morning, metro police said on Sunday.

Two people died and Mduduzi Tshabalala [Mandoza] was hospitalised after he crashed his Chrysler Crossfire into a VW Jetta along the N1 near the 14th Avenue offramp at around 1.23am.

"He hit it from the back, the Jetta lost control and overturned trapping the two occupants inside and they died on the scene," she said.

Mandoza sustained slight injuries was taken to Flora Clinic, where he was released later the same day.

Metro police Superintendent Edna Mamonyane, said that a case of culpable homicide was being investigated.

" We could not take blood tests to check for alcohol levels because the paramedics had already given him (Mandoza) a drip," she said.

"He is not under arrest. Once the metro police have completed their investigation the docket will be handed over to the SAPS."

The investigation continues.
