With over 500 000 music fans attending a Virgin Festival somewhere around the world in 2008, the legend is now coming to SA.

The world's leading international music festival hits our shores in December, with an eclectic line-up of live international and local talent — the likes of Snoop, Maroon 5, One Republic, Eddy Grant, The Parlotones, Jozi, Zebra & Giraffe, Dirty Skirts across multiple stages plus a dance stage.

"Music and entertainment have played a huge role at Virgin since the '70s when I launched Virgin Records," said Sir Richard Branson, "I am delighted that Virgin Festival by Virgin Mobile will continue to make music a big part of people’s lives and especially here in South Africa."

The international Festival is one of the crown jewels of the Virgin Group having been around since 1996. Globally, the 'Virgin Festival by Virgin Mobile' has given a platform to established, as well as up and coming talent, and South Africa is going to be no different.

The inaugural event will see over 18 bands playing for almost 12 hours to an expected crowd of 60 000 between Jozi on 13 December 2008 and Cape Town on 16 December. Organisers of the South African Festival (BIG Concerts) have so far secured global superstars Snoop, Maroon 5, One Republic, and Eddy Grant, as well as local stars The Parlotones, Jozi, Zebra & Giraffe, Dirty Skirts. Expect more to be added to the line-up.

But, while the fab music line-up will take centre stage, this is not all that ‘Virgin Festival by Virgin Mobile’ has to offer. There is something for everyone with a feast of off stage entertainment, including a food village and Virgin Mobile customers will have VIP access to various on-site activities.
