Following the announcement of their reunion in April, New Kids On The Block has now also made public the tentative release date for a new album, and also that of American and UK tours.

With only a select few journalist invited to their press conference in Munich, Germany, recently reformed NKOTB made public their intention to release a single called 'Summertime' on 1 September, and furthermore said that a full album will be released a week after.

All of them now in their thirties, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, and Jordan and Jon Knight also revealed that they are set to tour America in autumn of this year. They will then subsequently head to the UK, where performances will include one in January at London's O2 Arena.

About the issue of altering their name — seeing as they are not, some 15 ears after they disbanded, anymore overly new on the block, or a group of teenage kids — NKOTB are adamant that it will remain the same.

"We're kids at heart. What's in a name," explained the youngest member in the group, 35-year-old McIntyre.

They also claim that their reunion was not triggered by that of boybands Take That and Boyzone, with Jordan Knight saying: "We don't feel we have to do a ground-breaking piece of art for everybody to say: 'Whoa, they're deep.'

"We are a boyband, and we do have girl fans and we like showing off and having fun. If it's not broke…"
