Guitarist Albert Hammond Jr from The Strokes has eased the possible worries of many-a-fan by emphasising that the group has not disbanded, and that they plan to release a new album soon.
The last album by the American rock band, 'First Impressions of Earth', was released in January of 2006, and it seems a lot of Hammond’s focus has been on his solo career since then. Hammond's second solo album, '¿Cómo Te Llama?', was released on Monday.
"If we don't make a Strokes record before that, people will think that's the end of us,” explained the 28-year-old musician.
"Nothing's set, but we're definitely figuring out something to do for 2009."
Elaborating on the songs from '¿Cómo Te Llama?', Hammond revealed that the last song on the record, 'Feed Me Jack Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Peter Sellers', is a love song of a different kind.
"'Feed Me Jack' became a love song to a man. I don't want to just write love songs about girls I'm sexually attracted to," Hammond divulged.
"But after a couple of plays, I thought: 'Oh, I wonder if people think I mean the other Strokes?"
