Although this isn't Kelly Rowland’s first solo album, it’s refreshing to see her in her own light as a beautiful and somewhat talented artist and performer. She has definitely nailed the whole commercial success thing with tracks such as the international number one single ‘Work’ which also happens to be the opening track of this Deluxe edition of her album ‘Ms. Kelly’.
This re-released edition contains new songs — like the previously unavailable ‘Daylight’ featuring Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes — but doesn’t leave out any of the original's tracks. So the hot ‘Like This’ featuring EVE is still bumping and will still tempt you and your friends to get your groove on.
It's R&B all the way, baby, especially on the likes of ‘This Is love’ and ‘Better Without You’, although the rock twist to ‘Unity’ and the awesome dance tracks ‘Daylight’ (Joey Negro club mix) and ‘Comeback’ (Karmatronic Remix) do make for an enjoyable break.
The former Destiny's Child may not be the best of all singers but is very capable and her charisma carries her through well. She’s also got a great air of confidence about her which is apparent in her music. And even though Beyonce’s dad, Mathew Knowles, is one of the 'Ms Kelly' producers, it’s good to hear Rowland shine without Beyonce stealing the attention for a change.
