Cassette score 4/5

Local artist Farryl Purkiss has released his latest album entitled Fruitbats & Crows. The guy can sing and he's unique. What I picked up is that he's a very spiritual individual and he makes timeless music.

His style is laid back and conscious, the tracks will get you thinking. He kicks off with 'Man of the Alibi and look out for 'A Million Grains of Sand' which is beautifully done.

I fell in love with 'Kissing Devils on the Cheek'. It's not the title that got me hooked, it's the lyrics. 'Monkey's Wedding' is about simple things in life. If you're a spiritual person you'll enjoy 'Pennies in the Snow' — he's asking for forgiveness from the Man above. He believes that people have lost their way and they've become obsessed with worldly possessions.

Another great track is 'Bleed'; it will take you back to Sunday school. He wants to learn to forgive the way Jesus did while he was on the cross.

The music is great, except that after a while the songs start to sound the same. Nonetheless, I enjoyed listening to his music. He's very good with acoustic guitar and his sound is mature. This is the album to listen to when you want to relax after a long day. Farryl Purkiss has outdone himself with this classic album.
