Michael Buble scores 4/5

The man who has largely spearheaded the worldwide revival of The Big Band Sound has done it again — this time with a double CD and DVD album recorded and filmed during his recent live concert at Madison Square Gardens.

Music critics the world over are still amazed by this latter day Frank Sinatra who has captured the imagination of young and old with his Mum-and-Dad-and-Those-Were-the-Days kind of music.

Initially written off as just another one-album wonder, Michael Buble has sold more than 11 million recordings and is still packing them in shoulder to shoulder at every one of his concerts and live performances.

He has a natural style, just made for songs such as 'Me and Mrs Jones' and 'Call Me Irresponsible' which both featured on his previous album and on this DVD and CD.

He seems to have natural flair for old favourites and he does a grand job of Leonard Cohen's 'I'm Your Man' and Freddie Mercury's zippy 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'.

His retro style shows glimpses of Dean Martin, The Mills Brothers, Kurt Weill, Sinatra and others of that ilk and yet, almost against the run of modern music trends, he appeals to young and old alike.

This is only his fourth album but all the indications are there that this one too is going to be a runaway money spinner.
