I had to listen to Laura Izibor's debut album three times — not because I couldn't get the music but that's how addictive she is.
A new kid on the block — Irish, 21 years old, and very soulful — she's already opened for Aretha Franklin, John Legend and India Arie.
Although she sings about love and relationships, every singalong track on 'Let The Truth Be Told' is different. The motivational opener 'Shine' will get you through everything, reminding you to life your life and shine because you can.
The romantic 'If Tonight Is My Last' lets her reveal the things she'd like to do before her final hour, while the equally touching 'From My Heart to Yours' will definitely melt your heart. Not only heartfelt, the ballad showcases her vocal ability.
'I Don't Want You Back' reveals all in the title: a relationship has gone wrong and she's not prepared to forgive. Required listening if you're trying to get over someone.
And if you think you've heard the soulful closer 'Mmm…' before that's because it's been featured in the high profile Will Smith weepie 'Seven Pounds' and Tyler Perry box office hit 'Why Did I Get Married'.
A powerful song, it ends a quality album that's a must have if you appreciate good music. Joss Stone watch out, you've got competition.
