The Zac Efron-starring '17 Again' was a big hit at the local and international box office (making back more than five times its budget), and the soundtrack is as light and fun as the time-hopping movie it's pulled from.
In the film, Matthew Perry (Chandler from 'Freinds') plays the 37-year-old version of Zac's character, Mike, who's unhappy with his life in every respect and wishes he could go back and make it all right.
Of course, a mysterious school janitor magically transforms him back into the 17-year-old version of himself (played by Zac), and he enrols in his old school — alongside his own son and daughter.
Matching the story's time-warp element, the soundtrack mixes up '80s and '00s music, with opening track 'On My Own' by Vincent Vincent and the Villains sounding like a classic '80s hit (though it was actually released in 2004).
Elsewhere, there's a guaranteed party-starter by The Ying Yang Twins on their 2008 release 'Drop', before the '80s take over again, with Kool and the Gang's cheese-fest 'Cherish' and Kenny Loggins' sing-along 'Top Gun' hit 'Danger Zone' both popping up.
This is no landmark, must-have soundtrack, but if your tastes lean toward pop music with an '80s edge, you'd enjoy this light mix.
