When you think one-man band, chances are you imagine one of those guys with a harmonica in his mouth, a guitar on his lap, a drum strapped to his back and a monkey with a tin cup.
Zebra and Giraffe, the creation of Greg Carlin, was initially more about computers, drum loops, electric guitars and some really good songs. Conceived alone in his bedroom, his album 'Collected Memories' was South Africa's top debut of last year.
Now, a year later, his live band's set to play the Coke Zero Fest and the album (recently re-released in an expanded special edition) is up for a South African Music Award.
We caught up with Carlin to talk getting grumpy on tour, trying new things, celeb culture, and being robbed.
