Cape Town English professor David Lurie is a man who is set in his ways. He considers himself above reproach and impervious to the common daily harms that beset ordinary people, but fails to take note of the fact that the balance of power is shifting in the country.

When he enters into an imprudent and intimate relationship with one of his young coloured students, Lurie finds himself unable or unwilling to defend himself against the charges.

Fired from his job and hounded in public for his transgression, Lurie seeks refuge on the Eastern Cape farm of his daughter Lucy. For a time, his daughter's influence and natural rhythms of the farm promise to harmonise his discordant life and allow him the time to reflect on the disgrace he has become.

But shortly thereafter he is forced to come to terms with disgrace of an altogether different variety when he and Lucy are attacked by three young black youths on the farm.

From the director of 'Van Helsing' and 'The Mummy' and the producer of 'Transformers' comes an action-fuelled romp through the world of private elite soldiers who tackle evildoers on a worldwide scale.

The film features an all-star international cast and is effectively a hybrid of X-Men and James Bond featuring lots of high-tech gadgetry rather than being another outright war movie.

From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite 'Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity' or GIJOE team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight villains such as the corrupt Scottish arms dealer Destro who is threatening world stability with his dangerous games.

Combined with this, they must also deal with the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization to prevent them from plunging the world into total chaos.
