The last day of trading for the Cavendish Square Nouveau will be 17 January, and not 13 January, Channel24 reports.

According to the website, a Ster-Kinekor spokesperson said the incorrect date was released as a result of an "internal error", and that 17 January remained the last day of trading at the complex.

The cinema's closure was announced to the media on Friday 4 January, with a press statement confirming that Cavendish Square has decided to allocate Cavendish Nouveau's space to a "major retailer" - rumoured to be a new Pick N Pay.

Of the closure, Ster-Kinekor CEO Fiaz Mahomed said: "It is with regret that we have to share this news with our valued cinema audiences who have been so supportive of Cavendish Nouveau over the years."

"The closure of the theatre complex was a decision made by the mall owners who have decided to allocate the space used currently by Cinema Nouveau to an alternative retailer instead. The Cinema Nouveau at Cavendish has enjoyed strong trade and has enjoyed double digit audience growth over the past year."
