Channing Tatum is set to voice Superman in a new Lego movie.

The Magic Mike actor is wanted to take on the role of the superhero in Warner Bros.' Lego: The Piece of Resistance - a mix of the live-action and animation - and Will Arnett is lending his vocal talents to the role of Lego Batman.

Chris Pratt will voice lead character Emmet, who is an ordinary law-abiding Lego figure but his life dramatically changes when he gets mistaken for the MasterBuilder and is forced to go on a quest to stop an evil tyrant from taking over the world.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs team Phil Lord and Christopher Miller - who worked with Tatum on 21 Jump Street - are directing the project along with Chris McKay, with Dan Lin and Roy Lee set to produce the movie.

Lego: The Piece of Resistance - which has been scheduled for release on 28 February 2014 - has been in production since 2008 and is expected to be 80 per cent animation.

Channing's next projects will see him star in action movie White House Down, sci-fi motion picture Foxcatcher and he plays an erotic dancer in Magic Mike.
