Russell Brand has reportedly asked that any footage involving his relationship with Katy Perry be kept out of the final edit of her documentary film.

The British comedian – who filed for divorce from Perry in December after 14 months of marriage – requested that scenes detailing the failure of their marriage be removed from Perry's film Part of Me.

While the Firework singer reportedly spoke to the film's producers about accommodating Brand's wishes, it was ultimately decided that the film needed to included snippets of their life together.

A source told The Sun: "When she first decided to make the movie in 2010, Russell agreed to be filmed on the condition he got to see the final edit. Being a fly-on-the-wall documentary, he knew full well that it was going to be warts and all - and wasn't best comfortable with that. But Katy persuaded him to do it.

"Now they have broken up, she can keep whatever she wants in the film."
