A French film in which Kylie Minogue makes a cameo appearance made waves at this year's Cannes Fim Festival.

Entitled Holy Motors, the film received mixed reviews.

Directed by Frenchman Leos Carax, the plot centres on lead character, Monsieur Oscar, (played by Denis Lavant), who journeys from one life to the next.

Minogue plays a small role in the film, a task which she took to heart.

"I kind of stripped myself of being Kylie and wanted to go back to being as basic as possible, and pretty much be a blank canvas for Leos," she said, admitting that she had banned her entourage from attending to her during filming.

And the film itself seemed to impress Minogue who said she was blown away by its reception.

"I came out slightly baffled, but moved. Moved very deeply."

ScreenDaily critic Jonathan Romney said that Holy Motors was the kind of film that would polarise opinion.

"It will be acclaimed by some as a visionary, game-changing masterpiece and dismissed by others as a derivative wallow in unfocused imagery."
