There's a chance that fans of Will Smith will get to see the actor reprise his role of I am Legend's Robert Neville.

According to reports, Warner Bros has signed up The Expatriate writer Arash Amel to work on another instalment of I Am Legend which was released in 2007.

The movie studio is apparently eager for Smith to play scientist Robert Neville once again.

However Deadline.com reports that Smith won't sign on the dotted line until the script is ready, while director Francis Lawrence also has yet to commit.

Producer Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the thriller, is slated to return, as well as Smith's production company Overbrook Entertainment.

I Am Legend was based on the book by Richard Matheson, while Amel also wrote the screenplay for Grace of Monaco, which is currently in pre-production.

Smith has worked as a producer on recent releases This Means War and Karate Kid (which starred his son Jaden) and will next be seen on the big screen in Men in Black III, where he once again plays Agent J. The movie hits theatres in May.
