Sacha Baron Cohen's movie 'Bruno' has been banned in Malaysia.
An official from Malaysia's Film Censorship Board said the movie is unacceptable because of its story line, offensive language, jokes and racy nature.
"It's banned because the story is based on gay life ... There are a lot of sex scenes. It's contrary to our culture," said the official who refused to be named because of protocol.
She also added that gay sex is punishable by up to 20 years in jail and whipping in Malaysia and that sex toys, politically incorrect comments, and jokes about religion also contributed to the censors banning the movie .
'Bruno' is about the adventures of a gay fashion journalist from Austria. The movie is also banned in Ukraine and although a few Austrian officials have spoken out against it, no action has been taken to ban it there.
